Life with a Sprinkle of Glitter by Louise Pentland | Book Review

Summary:

Imagine you are in one of those glorious vintage shops where every surface is laden with treasure. Cut glass, pill boxes, old cameras, pendants, chests of drawers and stacks and stacks of books. This book is like that. Each chapter is one of those gem encrusted tins that you can open, peep inside and enjoy. You can either methodically wander the entire shop, looking at each individual item in order, or, you can dance around with wild abandon, opening and closing whatever you like, whenever you like. You can take in tiny bits of it at a time or you can devour it all in one go. I don't mind. I don't mind how you go about it; all that matters to me is that you take something from it. Divided into four sections: Glitz, Create, Need to Knows and All About Love, you'll find all my little tips and tricks, stories and insights and nuggets of advice. I want you to walk away from this book feeling uplifted. I want you to feel as though you are equipped to deal with something in your life and deal with it in the best possible, positive way. I want to show you how I find so much joy and enrichment in my life and how you can do it too, with just a Sprinkle of Glitter...Toodlepip! Xxx

Louise Pentland is a rather popular British blogger and youtuber also known under the name SprinkleOfGlitter on the internet.

This is such a beautifully presented book. It's a treat to look at and even more so to read. This book does include some beauty tricks and tips, overall it focuses more on how to feel good about yourself, how to make others feel good about themselves, and how to accept yourself for who you are.

The book is aimed at girls who are just about to start uni – that’s not to say older or younger readers wouldn’t find something useful in there, but it’s very much targeted to the sixth former in your life. I expected this book to be good but it was even better than that. It was a joy to read, with invaluable pieces of advice here and there which you can never have too much of.

Covering topics like education, socialising, bullying, love and dating, anxieties but also rather practical things such as crafting, beauty, decorating and various DIY-ideas, it offers the perfect blend and will probably come in handy in so many different occasions.

Reading it has made me feel so inspired. It was a cute and uplifting read, just like Louise intended. One of my favorite things about the book is its design. Each page is gorgeous and unique and designed to perfectly fit the topic that’s being covered.

I think the most important chapter is Body Confidence. As much as I think that obese people need to lose weight for their own health, I think it's an important message. I for one haven't always been the most confident person.

The best part is that you don’t need to read it from cover to cover if you don’t want to, you can dip in and out of it into what section you want.
